A message to the Labour Party: When you come after one of us you come after all of us

THANK YOU! To all my brilliant, compassionate, rhino-skin comrades who are making it possible for me to stay in The Labour Party. Some of the best people I have ever met are my local CLP comrades and those in Welsh Labour Grassroots. At this time where the current hierarchy are demonstrably trying to rid the party of the vast majority of its current membership, it is a reminder, as one brilliant comrade recently reminded me (us): “Once they come after one of us, they come after all of us”.

From the recent absurd words of one of our front benchers, to the way BAME members/elected officials have been/are being treated & ignored re the ‘Labour Leaks’ report, to the way our women representatives have been bullied, to how our Kashmiri comrades feel betrayed, to more besides-BULLIES NEVER WIN. Especially hypocritical, brazenly ‘political’ bullies. Referring to some members, some MPs and the wider commentariat, I remind people that so-called ‘liberals’ are genuinely some of the worst people I have ever met. This is because they love the PR-hey, aren’t we great, then often act despicably and entirely hypocritically. With impunity.

I also want to say that I completely understand why the comrades who have left have left. I totally get it. You are most certainly no less of a comrade now, than you were before, and I am convinced we will all work together for the greater good in almost the same way as we always have. You remain, to me, as much of a decent, compassionate person as you ever did. Nothing changes there: solidarity with you all, too.

If the EHRC report is released in public, then there MAY well be an attempt to frame anything bad as though Corbyn & ‘his lot’ are/were the issue…while absurdly still having those writing glowingly about anti-Semities sitting on our front bench, and those who allegedly bullied potential victims of racism still sitting on our front bench. I also want to make clear I am not saying there are not things all of us can learn-it would be incredibly arrogant to assume we all know everything.

What I am saying, is given the EHRC is not now independent of government, given Labour refused to send in (and the EHRC refused to request) the Labour Leaks alleged evidence of internal racism and bullying, given the EHRC refuse to investigate the Tories saying there is no case to answer despite so much evidence this is now farcical, and given the EHRC also refuse to investigate re the Windrush scandal, then, demonstrably unless you are in denial or being purely ‘political’ or both, then obviously how can any such report, whatever it says, be received in good faith?

So, I just wanted to say to everyone, again, THANK YOU for inspiring me, THANK YOU for your solidarity (inside or outside Labour) and THANK YOU for refusing to be bullied, and defending, proudly, those who have been bullied.

In Solidarity!
