A Portrait of Boscombe

Whenever I tell people that I live and work in Boscombe I tend to get the same reactions. With the media seeming to focus on purely negative reports on the area I wanted to do something about it.

I have found that people seem to have a stereotypical opinion of what Boscombe and the people who live here are like. I know that the area is not without its problems, but I wanted to show what I believe to be the true Boscombe.

I decided to start a personal project entitled “A Portrait of Boscombe. As a photographer, I thought there would be no better way for me to show the genuinely amazing bunch of people that visit, work and live in the area.

Adding one new portrait and profile each day I am trying to show life in Boscombe through my eyes. The people I have encountered have been amazingly friendly, warm and creative and have an overwhelming sense of community and pride in the area. Although I have only been running this project for a few weeks, I have managed to learn even more about the area in which I live; discovering hidden gems that have made me fall in love with Boscombe even more.

You can view my project at https://nadiaamura.com/portfolio/boscombe/

All I would ask is, please give Boscombe a chance! If you stop and look around, you never know what you’ll find.
