A Request To Anyone Connected To Charmouth

Anyone with a local connection to Charmouth Parish is being encouraged to complete a short survey to identify open market and affordable housing needs.

Responses are being sought primarily from residents and also workers, people with a family tie to the parish or anyone who has moved out of the area because they could not find open market or affordable housing to rent or buy.

Open for four weeks, the survey will contribute to the Charmouth Neighbourhood Plan and form part of a thorough needs analysis to identify the right type, size and tenure of housing for the parish.

Charmouth Parish Council stated:

“By engaging directly with our community in this way, we hope to learn more about local people’s need for housing, and we are also keen to hear views about any potential small-scale housing scheme(s) and would like suggestions for possible sites.

If you have ties to Charmouth parish – whether you live here, have family here, or work here – this is your chance to have your say and influence any future development.

Your feedback is crucial for sustaining a vibrant community. Together, we can demonstrate the housing requirements at the local level and ensure a thriving future for Charmouth parish.”

Jacqui Cuff, Rural Housing Enabler for Dorset Community Action, said:

“This work is a collaboration between Dorset Council, Charmouth Parish Council and Dorset Community Action. By pooling our resources, we hope to gather the information we need to address the significant housing issues in the area in the most appropriate way, based on local knowledge and actual experience.

We would urge people with a local connection to Charmouth to respond to this survey so we get as full a picture as possible to properly reflect the local housing needs.

The survey should take between five and 15 minutes to complete online, and we are offering alternative ways to complete it, so we can gather as many responses as possible.”

The survey runs from 14 April 2025 to 12 May 2025 and can be accessed here.

If you would like us to send you a paper copy of the survey, need help completing the survey or have any questions, please contact the Dorset Council Housing Enabling Team: housingenabling@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk  Tel:  01305 252443 or call Jacqui Cuff on 07421 994590 from 8am – 8pm or email jacqui.cuff@dorsetcommunityaction.org.uk
