Johnny Briggs who played Coronation Street factory owner Mike Baldwin from 1976 until 2006 has died following a long illness. Married twice and with six children he played the entrepreneurial rogue for 2,348 episodes until he bowed out, with his character suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. He died in the arms of his long time nemesis Ken Barlow played by William Roache.
