For Madiba
Madiba, father of your nation,
Spear of your nation, conscience
Of our world. For so long a six
Foot plus man in a six foot minus
Cell. 46664; a status designed
To demean but now a symbol
Of that which is good in the
Humanity of a man labelled…
Terrorist by the bigoted and
The Stupid. The released
Clenched fist the same hand
Which grasped that of the
Number 6 wearing captain
of the Springboks; giving
Truth to your words of
Liberty in that Pretoria courtroom
Where you stated that equality
Was the cause for which you
Were prepared to die.
But Madiba, you died in
FREEDOM and it was Apartheid
That died in that Robben Island prison.
