It was never about the boats. It was never about patriotism. It’s all about silencing progressive thought and “the left,” intimidating those who really do protest peacefully, and building a street army of fascist thugs.
Asylum seekers, Muslims, Black and brown people, trade unions, Palestine activists, and the trans community: all will be targeted by this thuggery.
This happened last week at Leonardo, Southampton, where people have peacefully and regularly gathered to protest at the gate of a company profiting from genocide.

Crowded directly outside the door of the venue where people were gathering to discuss how the community can come together to solve some of the issues that impact the vast majority, they blocked the pavement, aggressively swore, and chanted some of their favourites like: “You can never trust a lefty with your kid” (ironic if they could ever understand irony) and “Where’s your passport? It’s in the Channel!” (Grossly insensitive and tone-deaf in the light of the deaths of two women and at least one child in the Channel in the past few days.)
When asked when they were little, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I wonder how many said “Vermin.” Because that is exactly what they became.
