Second year Fine Art Students from the Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) continue a twelve-year legacy of ‘re-leasing’ their work out of the studio and into Bournemouth. This year they unleash dashes of orange across Boscombe, drawing in the town’s community with their pop-up art exhibition RE-LEASE. Claire Prosser, Lead Artist and alumni student of AUB and 22 selected Fine Art undergraduates invite you to indulge in their unique, varied collection.

You will remember the project’s former home in Bournemouth Lower Gardens; this year is the first time that Boscombe will play sole host to this project. The group are very enthusiastic about responding to the character of its neighbouring town. It has opened up relationships with local businesses, letting agents and coincides with Boscombe Regeneration Partnership’s efforts. Cat McMillan, Boscombe Community Regeneration Officer states:

“We’re really pleased to work with AUB on bringing this exhibition back to Boscombe for a second year running. Supporting the growth of the creative industries is a key priority for Boscombe Regeneration Partnership and AUB’s commitment to working in Boscombe helps to further establish the area as a creative destination.”
The group are leasing properties across Boscombe for a period of ten days, which will launch on Friday 25th April. You can expect to see a wide range of works from interactive performance to sculpture and installation. RE-LEASE aims to provoke a sense of unity within Boscombe, by stimulating conversation and encouraging people to take a different perspective of their hometown. Immerse yourself in participation artist Faye Willis’ game of giant hop-scotch on Boscombe’s Woodland Walk; discover art in unlikely places while you stop for coffee in the Little Pickle Deli Cafe; or help out drawing artist, Harry Shaw, as he illustrates a daily diary of Boscombe in Dorset Music Forum (opposite Shoe Zone on the precinct). Lead Artist Claire Prosser, whose work Relevant Information will be shown in Boscombe Library comments:
“It is a real privilege to return and lead this project after taking part in it as a student. The students are really immersing themselves within Boscombe and taking on what it means to make artwork within the town. I am so excited to see the outcome!”
Visit the Dorset Music Forum venue (opposite Shoe Zone on the precinct) to pick up a map that will guide you on this artistic journey or to find out more information contact the lead artist Claire Prosser on [email protected].
