Arthur Francis O’Donel Alexander Died On This Day in Dorchester in 1971

Today is the anniversary of the death, at Dorchester, Dorset on 29 Jan 1971, of the English amateur astronomer, author and historian Arthur Francis O’Donel Alexander. He is best known for his two books The Planet Saturn – A History of Observation, Theory and Discovery (1962) and The Planet Uranus – A History of Observation, Theory and Discovery (1965) which took the form of accounts of the observations of these planets from the earliest date up to the date(s) of publication.
