This October half term, Tumbledown will be hosting a free Family Food Festival for people of all ages to enjoy. The event takes place on Friday 31st October from 10am to 1pm; just in time for some Halloween fun!
With a theme centred around fresh, autumnal produce, there will be opportunities to get involved in pumpkin carving and pizza making using some of the delicious veg grown on site.
Join Primary Forest School for some cooking over a campfire in the woods, try your hand at popcorn making, or watch a chef give a demonstration on how to make soup. Families can also take part in a food-themed trail to explore the grounds which starts at the top car park, so there will be lots going on.
Visitors aged 8 and above will have the chance to make their own pizza and with the event being held on Halloween, there will of course be pumpkins! Why not showcase your creativity and carve out a design in the suitability named ‘Bat Cave’ workshop area?
As well as all the exciting food activities on offer, there will be games, an autumn-themed photo booth, a gazebo with crafts and information about bees. The Tumbledown volunteers have been busy making handmade wooden products and preserves, which will be on sale throughout the day. Refreshments will also be available to purchase.
Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Caroline Nickinson, said: “The Family Food Festival at Tumbledown on Friday 31st October will be a fantastic day out for all during half term. There will be a great array of activities, with plenty of opportunity to celebrate and sample the wonderful food grown at Tumbledown. There will also be games, crafts and refreshments.
“Tumbledown is a fantastic feature of our community, which enables people to form social connections, learn new skills and experience the benefits of being in nature.”
Please note, there will be a small charge for the pizza making and pumpkin carving activities.
Tumbledown is located on Radipole Lane in Southill. Parking is limited on site, so people are encouraged to walk, cycle, or use public transport where possible. For more information on Tumbledown, please visit the website.
