Axminster Girl Amongst Three Children Charged For Public Order Offences

Three teenagers have been charged in connection with reported public order offences in Lyme Regis.

Dorset Police received a report at 10.10pm on Saturday 14 September 2024 that three teenage girls were behaving aggressively towards staff at the Lyme Regis Brewery in Mill Lane. It is reported that the girls verbally abused staff before throwing rocks at them and the premises.

Fortunately, the victims did not sustain any injuries.

Officers attended the scene and following enquiries, three teenage girls were arrested and subsequently charged in connection with the incident.

A 13-year-old girl from Uplyme in Devon has been charged with criminal damage, common assault and a public order offence. A 13-year-old girl from Lyme Regis has been charged with two counts of common assault and a public order offence, and a 14-year-old girl from Axminster in Devon has also been charged with a public order offence.

All three are due to attend Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 16 October 2024.

Police Constable Joseph Garrard, of the Dorset Police Volume Crime Team, said: “We would like to reassure residents, visitors and business owners in West Dorset that we take all reports of anti-social behaviour in our communities very seriously and we will continue to do all we can to investigate incidents of this nature and take appropriate action.”
