BBC Now Helping To Find Man Who Was Involved In A Serious Assault In Weymouth

Detectives continuing to investigate reported assaults on two men in Weymouth have made a televised appeal as they look to identify a man in connection with the incident.

It was reported that at around 4am on Sunday, October 27, 2024 two men aged in their 20s were involved in an altercation with a group of up to eight people on Westham Road.

One of the victims sustained a fractured jaw, and the other sustained a cut lip, laceration on his ear, and swelling to his forehead.

Following previous appeals, five local men were arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. They all remain released under investigation pending further enquiries.

As part of their ongoing investigation, detectives are still trying to confirm the identity of a further man who they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

They took part in a televised appeal on Crimewatch Live on Friday, 7 March 2025, as part of their ongoing efforts, with CCTV images broadcast to the nation on BBC One.

Detective Constable Megan Matthews, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are still making efforts to identify the individual pictured in this CCTV, and we are grateful to Crimewatch for allowing us to share our appeal.

“I would continue to ask anyone who recognises this man and has any information regarding his identity to please contact Dorset Police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55240165443. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
