The Best of Dorset Show is a fabulous annual free event open to the public from 11am to 4pm taking place at the Weymouth Pavilion on Sunday 5 June.
Now in its 16th year, the show promises to be another ‘must visit’ event, offering visitors great live entertainment throughout and providing a unique showcase of information on many local attractions, events, festivals and club activities that can be enjoyed throughout Dorset in 2016.
The full programme of entertainment on the Weymouth Pavilion stage throughout the show includes live performances from WOW, Ed Hintz, Let’s Dance, Dorset for Singing, Weymouth Choral Society and the Decedettes. There will also be lots of fun and games for youngsters throughout the show including Nothe Fort Re-enactment Group and a live steam engine.
Cllr Jason Osborne, Weymouth & Portland Borough Council’s Briefholder for Tourism and Culture, said: “The Best of Dorset Show is a tremendous opportunity for local residents, visitors and trade to catch up on all the latest news and opportunities available throughout Dorset. Come along and be inspired by the people that represent these diverse range of great attractions and events.
“Once again we are delighted to have the support of a great line-up of local performers and exhibitors at this year’s show.”
Exhibitors booked for this year’s show include: Bluebird Coaches, Monkey World, National Trust, South Dorset Caledonians Society, Indigo Press, Let’s Dance, Nothe Fort, The Utility Warehouse Discount Club, Weymouth BID Ltd, WOW Youth Theatre, Weymouth and Portland Lions Club, Jurassic Electric Bikes, Weymouth Museum and the Weymouth and Portland Model Boat Club.
The theme for this year’s Best of Dorset Show is ‘Membership Market’, which was an idea brought forward by previous Mayor Cllr Christine James, following a civic visit to Louviers, France – Weymouth’s twinned town.
Cllr Christine James said: “The event will showcase the area’s great clubs and charitable organisations who, through inspired volunteers, raise funds and run many activities and events to support the local community. Come and learn about their great work and get involved.”
