With just over five weeks to go, final preparations are being made for this year’s Bournemouth Wheels Festival. Stunt legends, the Kangaroo Kid and Paul Swift are the latest to be confirmed for this year’s line up and will be putting on a show to enthral festival-goers.

Known to most as the Kangaroo Kid, Matt Coulter will be rousing crowds at this year’s event with an exciting show in the Desert Driving Arena, as well as a very special stunt in the Heart Monster Truck Arena. Speaking about his upcoming performance, Coulter revealed: “I’ll be attempting to jump over the monster trucks! I have to make sure the quad bikes are all running to their highest spec and there is enough room to land. Each jump is different because of the location and conditions, so no two are ever the same”. Matt is no stranger to performing for big audiences, having previously appeared on a number of TV programmes, including Don’t try this at Home, You Bet, and Guinness World Records. His stunts have also featured in films such as Tomb Raider and Tomorrow Never Dies.

Also performing for the first time at Wheels is one of the UK’s top stunt drivers, Paul Swift. Paul will be attempting to drive the length of East Overcliff Drive on two wheels! If this wasn’t enough, he will also be found performing stunts daily with the Ford Display Team in a pop-up arena on the Demonstration Straight.

Paul’s passion for stunts began at the young age of seven, when he learnt to drive the family ride-on lawnmower on two wheels back in 1986! He set the Guinness World Record for performing the stunt over a distance of 230m. Following in the footsteps of his father, legendary stunt driver Russ Swift, Paul soon became part of his father’s display team, performing stunts in a half-scale miniature car.

These days, Paul leads a team of the world’s best precision drivers performing blockbusting driving sequences for motor shows and TV programmes around the world.

The two stunt performers will join a variety of entertainment on offer, including the ever-popular FMX riders, who will be performing a selection of jaw-dropping stunts. The Monster Truck Arena will also be offering a bigger and better show with the arena having doubled in size since last year’s event. Many will be pleased to see the return of BMX extraordinaires, Team Extreme, who will be back with a new range of freewheel stunts. Families wanting to immerse themselves in other festivities can enjoy the musical entertainment on offer, or simply take in the fantastic selection of classic and supercars!
