One man was in charge of the economy for the longest whilst Boris Johnson peddled his nonsense.

That man was… Rishi Sunak.

During his tenure Sunak has received most criticism for the following:

  1. Handling of the COVID-19 pandemic: Sunak’s management of the economic response to the COVID-19 crisis, including the implementation of financial support schemes such as the furlough scheme and the self-employed income support scheme, has drawn both praise and criticism.
  2. Economic inequality: Some critics argue that Sunak’s policies disproportionately benefit the wealthy, exacerbating economic inequality in the UK.
  3. Austerity measures: Sunak has been criticized for supporting austerity measures, including reductions in public spending, which some argue have negatively impacted public services.
  4. Impact on the NHS: Critics contend that Sunak’s budget cuts and funding decisions have strained the National Health Service (NHS), leading to potential adverse effects on patient care.
  5. Lack of investment in green initiatives: Some have criticized Sunak for not allocating enough resources to tackle climate change and transition to a greener economy.
  6. Cuts to overseas aid: Sunak’s decision to reduce the UK’s commitment to overseas aid from 0.7% to 0.5% of Gross National Income (GNI) drew criticism from charities and advocates of international development.
  7. Tax policies: Sunak has faced criticism for not doing enough to address tax avoidance and for not implementing measures to ensure that corporations and high-income individuals pay their fair share of taxes.
  8. Support for the hospitality industry: Some argue that Sunak’s policies to support the hospitality sector during the COVID-19 pandemic were insufficient and left many businesses struggling.
  9. Housing crisis: Critics claim that Sunak has not done enough to address the affordable housing crisis in the UK, with insufficient measures to provide affordable homes for those in need.
  10. Lack of transparency: Sunak has faced criticism for a lack of transparency regarding his personal finances, particularly regarding his investments and potential conflicts of interest.

And yet he is prime minister.
