Weymouth & Portland Borough Council is backing a community event urging people to get behind the evolving Weymouth town centre masterplan.
The event, set up by WeyForward and AirFM, on Sunday 21 September between 11am and 1pm on Weymouth Pleasure Pier will include live bands and recorded music.
Information about the masterplan will be available at the event and council representatives will hand out postcards allowing people to make comments in writing and directing them to an online survey at www.dorsetforyou.com/brighterwey.
The borough council has in recent weeks been encouraging local people and organisations to get involved with developing the blueprint. It has held a series of successful pop up events over the last few weeks across Weymouth and hundreds of people have already submitted their feedback both online and at the events.
Cllr Ray Nowak, Brief Holder for Economic Regeneration at Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, said: “It is great that WeyForward has set up this event in collaboration with AirFM to help promote the Weymouth town centre masterplan and we are happy to support it.
“We have already held a number of successful pop-up consultations across the town centre over the last month with hundreds of people already having their say.
“Community involvement is at the heart of the masterplan and engaging with residents, businesses and visitors alike is crucial. Anyone who wishes to have their say can do so by visiting www.dorsetforyou.com/brighterwey”
The next stage following the initial consultation will involve themed workshops. These will look how the feedback received can be fed into the overall plan. A draft masterplan document will hopefully go out for further consultation by December 2014/January 2015.
