On Friday, 29th August, Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Stand Up to Racism (SUTR) organized a counter-protest against a far-right gathering at the Roundhouse Hotel. The event was a powerful display of community solidarity, diversity, and commitment to human decency.
Despite the far-right group’s attempts to dehumanize and villainize asylum seekers, SUTR’s counter-protest brought together a diverse and energetic crowd. The event featured:
– A lively performance by the Extinction Rebellion Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole drummers
– Generous donations of art and writing materials for hotel residents
– A strong show of support for the local community and asylum seekers
The counter-protest was a response to the far-right group’s weekly gatherings, which aim to spread hate and intolerance. SUTR reaffirms its commitment to standing up against racism, xenophobia, and hate in all its forms.
“We will continue to mobilize and counter these protests as long as they persist in spreading hate and intolerance,” said Lisa, a spokesperson for Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole SUTR. “We invite everyone who believes in our common humanity to join us in standing up against racism and supporting vulnerable communities.”
