A violent sexual offender has been jailed for seven years following a harrowing investigation, thanks to the courage and strength of a woman who came forward to report his abuse.
Aydin Kolliari, 18, of Southampton, appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday, 30 May 2025, for sentencing after being found guilty at an earlier trial. He was convicted of two counts of rape, five charges of assault by beating, and two counts of intentional strangulation, as well as charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage.

The crimes came to light after police responded to a disturbance at the Hunters Moon Lodge in Middlemarsh at around 10.30am on Sunday, 29 September 2024. Officers, acting on concerns raised about the occupants of one of the rooms, arrived at the scene to find the victim in clear distress. Kolliari, who was known to the victim, was arrested at the scene.
The victim bravely reported that she had been violently assaulted—hit in the face with her own phone, kicked, and strangled by Kolliari, before being raped. With police support, she later disclosed further instances of physical and sexual abuse at the hands of the defendant.
Following a detailed investigation, supported by the victim’s evidence, Kolliari was brought to justice.
Investigations Officer Florence Winstanley of Dorset County CID said:
“Thanks to the swift response of officers when this was first reported, we were able to intervene while the victim was being subjected to a violent sexual assault. We were able to safeguard her, and, thanks to her subsequent courage to disclose the full extent of Kolliari’s offending, we were able to compile extensive evidence and ultimately secure a conviction.
“The victim’s bravery in supporting our enquiries and the subsequent court process has helped put a violent sexual offender behind bars. I hope the strength she has shown will encourage other victims of domestic violence and sexual offences to have the courage to come forward in the knowledge that they will be fully supported and we will carry out a robust investigation to hold perpetrators to account.”
