Tom Burke (War and Peace, The Musketeers) also features in Carrie Cracknell’s critically acclaimed new production.

A flat in Ladbroke Grove, West London. 1952.

When Hester Collyer is found by her neighbours in the aftermath of a failed suicide attempt, the story of her tempestuous affair with a former RAF pilot and the breakdown of her marriage to a High Court judge begins to emerge.

SCREENING/FILM: NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS –  ‘One More Time With Feeling’

Doors 8pm / Starts 9pm
Tickets: £10.50 (£10 + 50p bf) adv / £12 door

A unique one night only cinema event, directed by Andrew Dominik, this is the first ever opportunity anyone will have to hear Skeleton Tree, the sixteenth studio album from Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds – immediately prior to the release of Skeleton Tree the following day.

Originally a performance based concept, the film gradually evolved as Dominik delved into the tragic backdrop of the writing and recording of the album. Interwoven with performances of the album tracks are interviews and footage, accompanied by Cave’s narration and improvised rumination, resulting in a fragile, raw and a true testament to an artist trying to find his way through the darkness.

February 9th, 1964, 8:12pm EST – after a brief commercial break, four young men from Liverpool step onto the Ed Sullivan stage, changing culture forever.

Seventy-three million people watched The Beatles perform that night, the largest audience in television history. But it is what the band did next that would introduce them to the entire world, permanently transforming the music industry and forever engraining them into the fabric of popular culture…they went on tour.

By the time the band quit touring in August of 1966, they had performed 166 concerts in 15 countries and 90 cities around the world. The cultural phenomenon their touring helped create, known as ‘Beatlemania’ was something the world had never seen before and, arguably, hasn’t since.

This is the not-to-be missed story of the band’s exceptional touring years – an intimate portrait of the band, and a behind-the-scenes look at The Beatles on tour. Exploring the effect it had on their relationships, as well as their musical evolution, and looking at how they transformed the world of music, the film features interviews, unheard music and exclusive concert footage from the biggest band of all time.

We are delighted to finally be able to announce that Studiocanal will be releasing the highly anticipated documentary feature film about The Beatles’ phenomenal early career, from Academy Award®-winner Ron Howard.

The film will hold its World Premiere in London’s Leicester Square on 15 September 2016. It will be  a star-studded red carpet event which will be LIVE streamed to cinemas across the country before showing the documentary.

The Wurzels
Doors 7pm / starts 8pm
£16 (£14.50 + £1.50bf) advance / £18 on the door

The Electric Palace announces finally a return show for The Wurzels! Always a sell out so please don`t delay when booking tickets  A Brief History of The Wurzels: The story starts in the summer of 1966 when Adge Cutler visited John Miles office with little more than a number of songs he had written. The name Adge Cutler and The Wurzels was conceived, a recording contract was negotiated with EMI and in the autumn of 1966 a single Drink up Thy Zider was released. This record sold over 100,000 copies and appearances followed on a number of TV shows including David Frost Show, Simon Dee, etc. Further records were released with cabaret and concert appearances all over the country.

The name of Adge Cutler and The Wurzels was slowly spreading until a fateful morning in May 1974 when Adge Cutler was killed in a road accident. The Wurzels decided to continue on their own and in April 1976 they finally hit jackpot with their hit Combine Harvester which was a parody of Melanies Brand New Key. Combine Harvester is about a country fella trying to get his hands on a wenchs (wait for it) bit of land. Well at least thats what the record implies. The familiarity of the tune and the jolly sound captured many folks imaginations and sent the record up the charts. It made No 1 and sold nearly 400,000 copies in the U.K. alone. The B-side Blackbird was No 1 in Canada.

FILM: Born To Be Blue (15) (2016) 97mins

Starts 7.30pm

£4 on the door.

Ethan Hawke lights up the screen as jazz legend Chet Baker, whose tumultuous life is thrillingly reimagined with wit, verve, and style to burn.

In the 1950s, Baker was one of the most famous trumpeters in the world, renowned as both a pioneer of the West Coast jazz scene and an icon of cool. By the 1960s, he was all but washed up, his career and personal life in shambles due to years of heroin addiction.

In his innovative anti-biopic, director Robert Budreau zeroes in on Baker’s life at a key moment in the 1960s, just as the musician attempts to stage a hard-fought comeback, spurred in part by a passionate romance with a new flame (Carmen Ejogo).

Creatively blending fact with fiction and driven by Hawke’s virtuoso performance, Born to Be Blue unfolds with all the stylistic brio and improvisatory genius of great jazz.

‘A tough, uncompromising take on a jazz legend, lifted by a never-been-better Ethan Hawke — an early contender for Best Actor consideration come awards season.’ Empire

RSC LIVE: Cymbeline
Doors 6pm / Starts 7pm

Tickets: £10.50 (£10 + 50p bf) adv / £12 door

Britain is in crisis. Alienated, insular and on the brink of disaster. Can it be saved?

Cymbeline is Shakespeare’s coming of age tragicomic romance. A story of power, sexuality and identity – stunningly retold for the 21st century.

An ineffectual Queen Cymbeline rules over a divided dystopian Britain. Consumed with grief at the death of two of her children, Cymbeline’s judgement is clouded. When Innogen, the only living heir, marries her sweetheart Posthumus in secret, an enraged Cymbeline banishes him.

Behind the throne, a power-hungry figure plots to seize power by murdering them both.

In exile Innogen’s husband is tricked into believing she has been unfaithful to him and in an act of impulsive jealousy begins a scheme to have her murdered. Warned of the danger, Innogen runs away from court in disguise and begins a journey fraught with danger that will eventually reunite Cymbeline with a long-lost heir and reconcile the young lovers.

Shakespeare’s rarely performed tragicomic romance is directed by Melly Still who designed Tales from Ovid and Midnight’s Children for the RSC and whose directing credits include The Cunning Little Vixen for Glyndebourne Opera and Coram Boy for the National Theatre. Melly directs Gillian Bevan in the role of Cymbeline, the first woman to take on the role for the RSC, and Bethan Cullinane (King Lear, 2013 Globe Theatre) as Innogen.
