Officers investigating a racially aggravated assault in Bournemouth are issuing a CCTV image of two men they would like to speak to.

At around 8.55pm on Tuesday 23 June 2020 officers were called to reports of a disturbance at Bournemouth Beach, near to Harry Ramsden’s restaurant. It was reported that members of a group of black men aged in their 20s had been racially abused by a group of white men of a similar age.

An altercation then occurred and one of the black men suffered a cut to his head, believed to have been caused by a bottle.

Police Constable Adam Lillywhite, of Bournemouth police, said: “Dorset Police takes hate crime very seriously and we have been making a number of enquiries to try and identify the individuals responsible.

“We have obtained CCTV showing two people we would like to speak to as part of our investigation. I appreciate the image is not of the best quality but I am hoping someone is able to recognise them and we owe it to the victim to explore every line of enquiry available to us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55200090266.
