Celebrate Christmas in ‘wild’ style with Dorset Wildlife Trust

Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) is launching new products in its online shop in time for Christmas.  New products include the 2017 calendar, a new range of Christmas cards and lots of new nature inspired gifts such as bronze resin hare sculptures and Scottish sea glass jewellery.  100% of the profits will go straight back into conserving Dorset’s precious wild spaces and wildlife.

In addition to new products, there is also the return of the favourites, such as the red squirrel adoption pack (£20) and the new seahorse adoption pack (also £20), DWT gift membership* (starting from £3 a month) and a wonderful selection of Christmas cards, using images from local astro-photographer, Stephen Banks (new for this year).  There is also a great selection of gifts for children, including the popular My Wild Life Journal, the Gruffalo Nature Trail, the Pterodactyl kite, and flights of Fancy Bird mobile Kits.

The 2017 calendar (£7) is our most unique to date, using images from drone footage taken in Dorset by local photographer and nature enthusiast, James Burland.  Shots include stunning aerial shots of Old Harry Rocks, Chesil Beach, Lytchett Bay and Holes Bay, to name just a few.

James said, “Drone photography has led me to explore deep into the heart of Dorset.  I’ve visited some of DWT’s most interesting reserves, such as the mosaic-like Powerstock Common and the ancient Girdlers Coppice, with its delicate carpet of spring flowers and dappled roof tiles of oak. It’s my hope that throughout each month of the year, you’ll be reminded of the beauty and diversity of this stunning county.”

DWT’s Fundraising Manager, Fiona Sansom said, “Our online shop gives everyone a chance to buy something educational, fun and quirky, with a nature theme, whilst knowing that their purchase is contributing directly to wildlife conservation work in Dorset.  We’re really excited about the new products we have this year, and hope that the public enjoys browsing them as much as we’ve enjoyed choosing them.  Visit www.dorsetwildlifetrust.org.uk/shop.”

In addition to our online shop, DWT is also feeling festive with events running up to Christmas.  The Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Centre in Weymouth is holding its Christmas Fayre on Sunday 27thNovember, with local art and craft stalls, wildlife books for all ages, and gifts for the home.  Over at the Kingcombe Centre, near Dorchester, enjoy a Christmas craft event, every weekend up to and including 3rd/4thDecember, with lots of special and unique gifts.  Both Centre’s have a café for festive refreshments and treats.

Visit the online shop at www.dorsetwildlifetrust.org.uk/shop – to receive orders in time for Christmas please order before 14th December.
