Purbeck-based actor Edward Fox is among the celebrities whose original drawings are currently being auctioned for Dorset’s wildlife.
The Wild Art Auction, launched online this month by Dorset Wildlife Trust, features more than 50 sketches of wildlife especially created by famous people from David Cameron to Daniel O’Donnell and drawings are still being received by the conservation charity.
Fiona Sansom, Supporter Development Manager at Dorset Wildlife Trust, said: “The celebrities were asked to make a sketch of an animal or plant of Britain, starting with their finger/foot/toe/nose or even ear print and the results range from a charming footprint duck by Prunella Scales to a striking fingerprint cow by Robin Cousins. Our first week’s auction has just ended, with Susan Hampshire coming out on top with her lovely thumbprint flower, followed by Fearne Cotton and Gina McKee. Thank you to all of them and to everybody who has joined in the auction so far.”
The drawings are being auctioned in batches, with a new set being unveiled each week. Currently online are works by singer Marty Wilde, who recently performed in Bournemouth on his current tour, Fawlty Towers actress Prunella Scales, Eastenders’ Shane Ritchie and Lord Ashdown.
Fiona added: “This fundraising event will help to fund vital conservation work in Dorset and we are very grateful for the support of all the celebrities. The drawings are still coming in and each one expresses the character of the star who took the trouble to create them.”
