West Dorset District Council-run tourist information centres (TICs) will sell charity Christmas cards from Monday 3 November.

Bridport, Dorchester and Sherborne TICs are all selling the cards from registered national charity network Cards for Good Causes (CFGC) which sells Christmas cards for more than 25 charities including Age UK, Cancer Research UK, British Heart Foundation and Mencap as well as local charities such as Naomi House and Julia’s House.

CFGC pays the participating charities (or their trading subsidiaries) at least 70 pence in every pound from their card sales, less the VAT payable on the amount retained by CFGC. The remaining amount covers CFGC’s running costs.  Additionally, the charities pay for the production and distribution of their cards.

West Dorset District Council Chairman Gillian Summers said: “It’s coming around to that time of year where people are preparing themselves for the festive period. Why not stop by one of our tourist information centres and purchase some Christmas cards. Some great charities will benefit from the sales.”

The tourist information centres sell books, calendars and other West Dorset themed souvenirs that would make great Christmas presents for family and friends.

Centres offer information about Christmas events, sell theatre tickets and tokens and help can also help visitors with booking accommodation in West Dorset during the festive season.
