Dorset Wildlife Trust’s (DWT’s) Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Centre is hosting a Dorset inspired Wild Art Exhibition, displaying art in a variety of mediums created by twelve local artists, from Saturday 7th November until Sunday 22nd November.

Members of the public are invited to browse pottery, silk illustrations, and watercolour and oil paintings (to name just a few) in the exhibition area, which looks out over Chesil Beach and the Fleet.

Local painter and potter, Maggie Cook, will be exhibiting at the Art Exhibition. She said, “Such enjoyment and inspiration comes from nature and wildlife and I’m delighted to take part in the Chesil Beach Centre Wild Art Exhibition.  I use shoreline and tideline patterns and the flight of birds to inspire my ceramic pieces of work.”

DWT Chesil Beach Centre Assistant, Vicky Ashby, said, “We are very excited about the Wild Art Exhibition at the Chesil Beach Centre.  The Centre itself is at the heart of the Jurassic Coast, over-looking the Fleet Lagoon and is the perfect location to exhibit art inspired by nature. We look forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy the wonderful scenery, some wild art and refreshments at the *taste café!”

DWT’s President, Tony Bates MBE will also be displaying his photography at the Art Exhibition.  He said, “The form and beauty of nature and how wildlife fits into the broader landscape has always inspired me, and I look to capture that moment that is special for me.  As President of Dorset Wildlife Trust, I’m delighted to be taking part in the Wild Art Exhibition, and I’m glad to share the beauty of close-up wildlife and the landscapes that I enjoy recording.”

Visitors can expect to find great gifts for Christmas, with prints and cards available along with the original works.  The DWT gift shop will also be open, with a variety of wildlife products available. 100% of the profits made from the gift shop go straight back into conservation work in Dorset.

The Chesil Beach Centre is halfway along the causeway between Weymouth and Portland, postcode DT4 9XE.  The Wild Art Exhibition is open 10am – 4pm from Saturday 7th November, until Sunday 22nd November. For more information about the centre, phone 01305 206191.
