Two local charities have benefited to the tune of more than £900 each thanks to fundraising carried out at this year’s Christchurch Food and Wine Festival.
The money was raised for this year’s designated charities, Macmillan Caring Locally and the Christchurch Food Festival Education Trust (CFFET), at a charity dinner held at The Lord Bute restaurant during the Festival.
The cheques were handed over to the charities by the chairman of the Food Festival, Vicki Hallam and Manager of The Lord Bute, Gary Payne, along with Mary Reader, Festival President.
Neal Williams, Trust Secretary of Macmillan Caring Locally, said: “We’re delighted to have been supported at the Christchurch Food Festival this year and to be involved with such a prestigious event in our county. To receive such a substantial donation is so important to us, being a small community charity.”
Julie Ratcliffe, Chairman of CFFET, said: “We’d like to thank everyone who contributed to the event which raised the funds. The money will be used towards enhanced cookery courses which we are running in local schools and which provide valuable practical skills and confidence-boosting experience for students.”
