Christchurch murder victim identified

Detectives who launched a murder investigation following the death of a man at an address in Christchurch are confirming his identity.Dorset Police received a report at 7.53pm on Tuesday 4 January 2022 raising concern for the welfare of the occupant of 6 Heath Road. Officers attended the address and found the body of a man with serious injuries.

Following formal identification taking place and liaison with HM Coroner, detectives can now confirm that the man was 35-year-old Edward Reeve.

Following enquiries, a 16-year-old boy from Christchurch was arrested on suspicion of murder. He is still assisting detectives with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector Simon Huxter, of the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT), said: “We are continuing to support Edward’s family and keep them updated with our investigation, which remains ongoing.

“I am appealing to anyone who knew Edward to please come forward as they may have important information to assist our investigation.

“Our appeal also still stands for residents and motorists in the area of Heath Road to please check any CCTV systems or dashcam footage from Saturday 1 January to Tuesday 4 January 2022 and to report any suspicious activity they may have witnessed during this time period.

“Officers remain in the area carrying out enquiries and can be approached by members of the community with any information or concerns.”
