A Dorset country Christmas comes to Kingcombe next month, with Dorset Wildlife Trust’s Christmas Food and Craft Fayre. The Fayre will feature local food and hand made gifts in the idyllic setting of Dorset Wildlife Trust’s Kingcombe Centre.
Tucked away in the village of Lower Kingcombe, the Centre specialises in bringing people closer to their natural environment, encouraging rural crafts and promoting locally grown food. Kingcombe preserves, Christmas cakes, local meats and mulled wine will be on offer, as well as live demonstrations with winter foraged foods by John Wright of TV’s River Cottage. Crafts will include some of the wide range of work produced at the Centre’s courses and Dorset Wildlife Trust’s exclusive Christmas cards and wildlife gifts will also be on sale.
Victoria Vincent, Dorset Wildlife Trust’s Kingcombe Centre Education Officer, said: “We have sourced the best of west Dorset produce, including smoked meats and cheeses and local ales and ciders. We will also be showcasing some of the finest arts and crafts, including willow sculptures, homemade soaps, candles and jewellery. Come and join us for all your Christmas foods, unique presents or just to enjoy a roast pork and apple bap or a tipple of mulled wine!”
Owned and run by Dorset Wildlife Trust, the Kingcombe Centre is one of Dorset’s premier environmental education establishments, with accommodation in wildlife-themed rooms. Its café serves freshly produced and locally sourced food, including its own range of cakes, flapjacks and preserves, surrounded by its own kitchen garden and the outstanding wildlife of Kingcombe Meadows nature reserve.
The Kingcombe Centre Christmas Food and Craft Fayre is on Saturday 8th December from 10 am to 4pm at LowerKingcombe, near Toller Porcorum, DT2 0EQ. Free entry, refreshments available all day.
