Free parking is returning to selected Bournemouth Borough Council car parks in the lead up to Christmas.

Bournemouth Borough Council is offeringfree parking in certain car parks every Sundayall day from Sunday 1 December, until Sunday 29 December, and on Thursday nights from 6pm between November 28 to December 19.

Information on participating car parks can be found here under Christmas parking 2013 on the Bournemouth Council website.

Councillor Michael Filer, Cabinet Member for Transport, Cleansing and Waste, said:

“During these tough times we know local people may be feeling the pinch, so we thought this was a nice festive gesture to ease some of that pressure you can feel in the mad rush just before Christmas. We hope that it encourages residents to get out and about without the worry of knowing where to park or the fear of possibly getting a parking ticket. There’s lots going on and we want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy it. The atmosphere around Christmas is just brilliant and we are sure shoppers and businesses will welcome the benefits.”

Throughout the Christmas period there is plenty for visitors to the town to enjoy including the new Gardens of Light festival in the Bournemouth gardens, the outdoor ice rink and the German market in the town square.
