“Coleman Insurance Brokers annual Golf Day raises in excess of £6,000 for Austim Wessex and Orfund”

The late summer sun shone on the golfers at Canford Magna Golf Club near Wimborne as some 22 teams took part in the Coleman Insurance Brokers Annual Golf Day. The Golf Day, which is in its 10thyear, has now raised in excess of £50,000 for national, international and local charities.  This year the nominated charities were Autism Wessex and Orfund who will benefit from the £6,000 raised.

Coleman Director, Peter Moody said, “It’s been a fantastic day.  There has been much fun had and competition has been as fierce as ever on the golf course!  We are delighted at the amount raised. Coleman is not just a Business that operates to make profit but also operates to contribute to and to be a part of the local community and its social needs.  It is good to be supporting two such well deserving charities.  I would like to offer a thank you to all the businesses and individuals that took part and entered teams and of course a huge thank you to our generous sponsors, Allianz Insurance, Bowmill Engineering, David Long and Carroll London Ltd.”

Autism Wessex provides specialist support and services to people affected by autism in the local community. The Information and Advice Service is a lifeline to many and offers a free helpline, drop

in groups and parent training programmes. Demand for the Charity’s advice service is high with over 1350 enquiries last year. The service costs £124,000 a year to run and is fully reliant on fundraising.

Emily Pike, Corporate fundraising manager for Autism Wessex said, “We are extremely grateful for the generous support of Coleman Insurance Brokers.  It’s been a thoroughly enjoyable day and a terrific amount has been raised. We rely heavily on the generosity of our corporate and community supports to help us deliver our services and reach out to as many people as we can. Today’s fundraising will make a real positive difference to our Charity.”

Orfund is a small registered charity which provides financial support for the care and education of destitute and orphaned children in homes run by its partners in India and Malawi. Orfund is not responsible for the management of the homes but encourages its partners to maintain good standards of care with the appropriate arrangements for the governance and safeguards for children being looked after.

Graham Young, Chairman of Trustees for Orfund added, “We are thrilled that Coleman Insurance Brokers are prepared to support us through their Charity Golf Day. The funds raised will be put to good use and it has been great to raise the profile of Orfund in the local communities in Bournemouth and Poole.”
