Collision in Beaminster leaves motorcyclist in serious condition

Officers investigating a serious injury collision in Beaminster are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

At around 12.55pm on Monday 30 August 2021 a serious road traffic collision occurred on the A3066 Bridport Road involving an orange Kawasaki motorcycle and an orange and black Renault Captur. 

Officers attended the scene, alongside the ambulance and fire service. 

The rider of the motorcycle, a man aged in his 30s and from Somerset, sustained serious head injuries and was taken to Southmead Hospital for treatment. His condition is serious, but not life-threatening.  

The driver of the Renault and his wife, who are both local and aged in their 70s, were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The road was closed between Townsend Way and near to The Mount. It was reopened at 4.30pm.

Police Sergeant Lee Savage, of the traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who was travelling along Bridport Road at the time of the collision and either witnessed the incident, or the manner of driving of the vehicles involved prior to it, to please come forward.

“I would also ask that anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle please checks their footage for anything of relevance.”
