There will be fun for all at West Bay Day on 3 August.

The action-packed day will include live music, classic cars, a bouncy castle, a skate park, Jurassic candle lights on the pier and more.

The day, which has been organised by West Dorset District Council, will raise money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) and the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.

Councillor Gillian Summers, Chairman of West Dorset District Council, said: “West Bay Day will be a great day out. The atmosphere will be brilliant, so come and join the fun. It is a great day that celebrates all that West Bay has to offer.”

There will be lots happening during the day on the seafront, at the Salt House and on the Mound.

On the seafront from 1pm there will be a display of classic cars and vintage motorbikes, a bouncy castle with slides, a surfboarding simulator and a mobile skate park and circus skills activities.

Cream teas will be served by the RNLI ladies at the Salt House and the Sea Cadets will also be there offering skittles, a crockery smash and rowing on the River Brit.

On the Mound there will be a ‘History of West Bay from 1914 -1918’ display and in the evening there will be children’s activities until sundown.

At about 9.15 pm the pier will be lined with candles, which will be on sale during the day. If you buy a candle you will be invited to sign a memories book. The pier will then be opened for candlelit walks.

Live music and an outdoor bar by the Crown Inn will be on offer. Stands and stalls by local charities and community groups will also be on display.

West Bay Day, which celebrates the area’s rich history and heritage, dates back to 1844 when it was known as the West Bay Regatta.
