The Dolphin Shopping Centre’s newest retailer, Deichmann, has opened its doors to customers.

Europe’s biggest shoe retailer, Deichmann, has taken a 438 metre squared unit in the shopping centre, creating 12 permanent jobs. The official launch took place on Saturday February 3 with a range of in-store promotions throughout the day, including free shoes for the store’s first 25 customers, limited edition bags and a ‘Spin the Wheel’ game, giving shoppers the chance to win free shoes and discounts.

John Grinnell, centre manager at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, said: “The opening weekend of Deichmann was a great success – customers enjoyed seeing the layout of the new store and making the most of the limited edition offers available on the launch.

“We’re delighted Deichmann has joined the line-up of retailers at the Dolphin. It’s a really exciting time for the shopping centre, as there are several other openings planned this year.”

Deichmann stocks a full range of men’s, ladies’ and children’s shoes, as well as exclusive lines from brands such as adidas and Nike. The Poole store benefits from a simple, customer-friendly layout, with all the stock available on the shop floor.

Andy Thompson, store manager of Deichmann Poole, said: “Following a successful opening, we’re even more excited for the future of our Poole store. We are looking forward to getting to know all the local shoppers and hopefully becoming a well-loved fixture in the Dolphin centre.”

Legal & General reached an agreement with the Borough of Poole last year to restructure the existing headlease arrangements into a single, longer lease unlocking a £26 million programme of investment. The improvement programme will focus on an internal mall refresh,  improvements to the open-air Falkland Square and Kingland Crescent – including work to the public realm and eye-catching shop facades, in addition to a redevelopment of the former Argos building to create a new nine-screen Empire cinema with four restaurants.

John Grinnell continued: “Attracting top brands to the Dolphin like Deichmann is really important to secure the centre’s position as a significant attraction on the south coast for tourists and residents alike. Combined with the improvement works, we’re determined to significantly improve the facilities to appeal to all our customers.”
