DEMOLITION MAKES WAY FOR FORECOURT EXPANSION

Breaking Ground. Developments underway for expansion at Norman Motors in Wallisdown.

Dorset’s largest and oldest independent used car specialist is to see an expansion at its main site in Bournemouth. Norman Motors was established as a family run firm in 1953 at premises in Wallisdown Road and still remains under private family ownership to this day.

Proprietor David Norman is the third generation of the Norman family to run the car dealership, which has seen significant growth in recent years.

Last month work began on the £500k project to demolish an adjacent dwelling to make way for a new and improved car showroom and forecourt area. Speaking of the development Mr Norman said, “In spite of the recession our used car business has held up very well indeed. We specialise in mid to top end, quality low mileage vehicles and vehicle servicing and repairs. We did put the investment on hold until there was more confidence in the economy in general, and now we feel that the time is right.”

The expansion will see forecourt capacity increase by up to a third, plus the main showroom, service centre waiting area and office buildings are to be completely refurbished.  It will mean up to 80 cars can be displayed at the Wallisdown Road site, and 40 on the Bournemouth Road premises.

Norman Motors, which was recently awarded the Which? Trusted Trader status, will remain open and fully operational during the works, which are expected to be completed by this autumn. For details of the business visit their website www.normanmotors.co.uk
