Cath Kidston are brightening up Bournemouth Seafront this summer with five bespoke beach huts, each wrapped in one of the brands iconic summer prints.

The huts, which arrived on Thursday 21st May, are located just east of Pier Approach (past Harry Ramsdens) and will remain there for the duration of the summer. The installation is the first of the brand’s #RandomActsOfKidston initiative; random, pop up activities that are designed to brighten up peoples’ day. The beach huts follow in the footsteps of the polka dot design that was printed onto Kingston upon Thames’ famous ‘Out of Order’ red phone box art installation.

Director of Bournemouth Tourism, Mark Smith, says: “Bournemouth has a reputation for doing things in style. The beach huts already enjoy one of the finest views in Britain and now have had a makeover from one of England’s leading fashion designers. Famous for the nostalgic floral patterns, the Cath Kidston designed huts are sure to be a talking point and will work perfectly on the beautiful seafront”.

Marketing Director for Cath Kidston, Sue Chidler, says: “As a brand that is dedicated to brightening up peoples’ day with our colourful prints, we are always looking at fun ways to bring that cheerfulness to life in a new and exciting way. The beach huts in Bournemouth are synonymous with the British summertime, providing an iconic landscape on our beaches and we were incredibly excited to be able to work with Bournemouth Council to brighten up these traditional huts this summertime, with five of Cath Kidston’s key summer prints”.

The designs that have been selected are all key prints for Spring/Summer 2015, including Antique Rose, Button Spot Raspberry, Clouds, Paradise Fields Cream and River Fish.

Beach-goers will be able to find the huts just east of Pier Approach, with hut numbers 2368-2372 being decorated.
