Weymouth’s events programme is preparing to roar into 2014 by hosting its second thrilling weekend of top class quad bike racing on Weymouth Beach.

Dickies Quad Beach Cross hopes to build on the great success of the first event held in February 2013.

This all-action motoring event offers spectating throughout the weekend promising to attract big crowds and generate a real boost to the trade throughout the area during the traditional off-peak season.

This event will be action-packed with youth motorbikes, quad bikes and spectacular sidecar and Thundercats boat racing which can all be viewed from the Esplanade spectators area.

Event organiser ORE Events have been working hard on this year’s event and are confident of presenting a successful quad bike event in Weymouth 2014.

ORE Events spokesman Duncan Irons said: “The Dickies Weymouth Beach Cross is a top class motoring event taking place on 22 and 23 February.

“We have competitors from the age of six years old to 72 years old travelling from all over the UK and a number of international competitors.

“We will be working with the local community and businesses to leave a positive footprint and increase the visitors to Weymouth at this normally quiet time of year.”

There will be a number of exhibitors including the Dickies Workwear Interactive stand and the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance Service which the event is raising funds for.

There will also be a number of trade stands and exhibitors in front of Weymouth Pavilion.

Tickets to watch the events over the weekend will cost £5 per adult and children under 16 go free. People can buy tickets from Weymouth Pavilion or visit www.ore-events.co.uk

Over the weekend there will be a screened pay-to-view spectator area on a section of Weymouth Promenade from Weymouth Pavilion to Kings Statue which will be run by the organiser ORE Events throughout the two-day event.

The agreement with ORE Events will ensure that a pedestrian thoroughfare along the Promenade will be maintained at all times, together with unhindered access to the beach from north of the Jubilee Clock.

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council Tourism and Culture brief holder Cllr Ian Bruce, said: “I am sure this event will provide a welcome out of season economic boost for the town and create a dynamic and impressive motoring spectacle for Weymouth.

“I wish ORE Events the best of luck with this great event and look forward to welcoming the team of riders and support crews for what we all hope will be a roaring success.”
