Do you know someone who needs help getting online?

Portlandresidents are invited to come and learn how to use a computer and the internet to browse their favourite hobbies, keep in touch with family and friends and stay connected.

On Saturday, 15 March, the Superfast Dorset team will be hosting a free drop-in session at Portland Tophill Library, The Straits, from 10am to 2pm. Bournemouth University Students will be joining Superfast Digital Champions to help show anyone interested in improving their computer skills how to get online.

More than 100,000 of us in Dorset have never experienced the magic of the internet. And as technologies advance and more public and private services move online, being connected is essential for everyone in the county.

Superfast Dorset is making faster, more reliable internet available throughout Dorset, bringing many benefits to individuals, families and businesses. From accessing education and applying for jobs, to buying and selling online, superfast broadband will allow people to do more online than ever before.

Dorset County Council Cabinet member for the environment Hilary Cox said: “It’s really great that students from Bournemouth University are volunteering by giving their time to help those of us who haven’t grown up using the internet as part of everyday life.

“This is a real opportunity for people who aren’t yet online to take their first steps in discovering some of the many benefits of using the web.”

If you’d like to discover the benefits of being connected, come enjoy a cup of tea, cake and see how getting online could change your life.
