Detectives in Dorchester are appealing for witnesses following an alleged assault in a local car park on Monday morning. The incident occurred between 10am and 11am in a car park on Bridport Road, close to the junction with Hawthorne Road.
According to Dorset Police, a man in his 30s was reportedly attacked by another man wielding a screwdriver. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment, but fortunately, his injuries have been described as non-life-threatening.
A 45-year-old man from Dorchester has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody as enquiries continue.
Detective Sergeant Ben Turner of Dorset County CID said the investigation is ongoing and urged members of the public who were in the area at the time to come forward. “I understand that members of the public intervened during the incident, and I am asking them to please get in touch,” he said. “I am also keen to speak with anyone else who may have information or relevant footage that could assist our investigation.”
Police are particularly interested in any dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area during the time of the attack, as it may provide crucial evidence in identifying exactly what occurred. Officers are reviewing CCTV from nearby properties and businesses but stressed that additional public assistance could be key to progressing the case.
