Officers investigating a serious injury collision in Bridport are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.
Dorset Police received a report at 12.03am on Tuesday 7 July 2026 of a collision involving a white Mercedes-Benz A200 and a silver Yamaha motorbike on the A35 Sea Road South at the junction with Hollow Way.
The rider of the motorbike – a 17-year-old boy from the Dorchester area – sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is described as life-threatening and his family has been informed.
The driver of the car – a man aged in his 30s from West Dorset – has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences. He has been taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be serious.
Police Sergeant Richard Stroud, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish what happened and I am keen to hear from any witnesses.
“I would also like to speak to anyone who may have been travelling in the area at the relevant time and captured anything on dashcam footage that may assist our investigation.
“Finally, I would like to thank the public while the road closure is in place. I know it is impactive at a busy time of day, but it is absolutely necessary to allow us to carry out a detailed examination of the scene.”
