Officers investigating a report of dangerous driving, threats and assault in Poundbury are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Dorset Police received a report at 7.23pm on Friday, 23 January 2026, of a disturbance in Corston Street.
It was reported that a white pickup truck had driven up on the pavement before three people got out and approached a man and a woman.
One of the occupants from the vehicle was reported to be in possession of a baseball bat and allegedly struck the male pedestrian on the arm. He required hospital treatment for bruising and swelling to the arm.
Following enquiries by officers, a 32-year-old man from the Dorchester area was arrested on suspicion of threats to damage property, making threats to kill, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon and dangerous driving. He has been released on police bail as further enquiries are carried out.
The arrested man and the victims are reported to be known to each other.
Police Constable Nathan Wright, of Dorchester police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.
“I would also urge residents in the area with home CCTV systems or doorbell cameras, as well as motorists with dashcam who were in the vicinity at the relevant time, to please review their footage for anything that might assist our enquiries.”
