Dorset Wildlife Trust’s (DWT’s) Kingcombe Meadows Nature Reserve has been handed the keys to a top-of-the-range Fendt 312 tractor, following a generous legacy left by long-standing member Mrs Joan Bennett.

This equipment is a massive help in facilitating DWT conservation work for many years to come and demonstrates the huge difference legacies being left to the trust can make.

DWT stockman Ashlea Kirk said, “Legacies are massively important DWT. Mrs Bennett’s money will save us valuable time and make life more comfortable on the farm. I spend 1000 hours a year sat in a tractor to ensure the consistent high quality welfare of the livestock – to me, this tractor is my office! I hope it will continue to support our work and allow us to take on further conservation tasks beyond what we already do.”

DWT purchased the tractor from agricultural company Redlynch. Martyn Northover, sales representative for Redlynch, says “In my opinion, this is the best tractor on the market.  It is environmentally friendly thanks to its Tier 4 final Agco power engine, and is incredibly simple to drive.  We have also provided a full manufacturers warranty, covering up to 5 years or 6000 hour warranty.  We are incredibly pleased to be working with Dorset Wildlife Trust and it is fantastic to be supporting a local charity. We hope to maintain a long-term relationship with DWT into the future.”

DWT’s Individual Giving Officer, Jodi Hibbard said, “Without Mrs Bennett’s thoughtful and generous gift, this fantastic investment would not have been made possible.  We are massively grateful to Mrs Joan Bennett – her generosity has allowed DWT to better conserve and protect Dorset’s beautiful wildlife into the future.”
