Dorset window cleaner cleans up region’s grubby road signs

A 33-year-old female Window Cleaner from Dorset has taken matters into her own hands after spotting a school sign covered in dirt and virtually unreadable, she now has almost 50 under her belt.

Verity Norman, who owns Jurassic Window & Gutter Cleaning Ltd, based in Wareham, was working at a property near to a 20mph school sign last month that was covered in green algae and couldn’t be seen so decided to give it a quick clean.

While cleaning the sign Verity received positive feedback from her customer and passing locals, so decided to take on Dorsets’s unsightly signs.

She has cleaned nearly 50 signs at present across the county, at no cost to the local authority,

Mrs Norman said: “I try to clean at least one or two signs a day or every other day depending on where I’m working, and where its safe to do so between jobs”. ‘while local authorities keep bushes and trees from obscuring signs, they rarely clean them, with their budgets being cut and sign cleaning not high on the agenda, we feel we can give something back to the community by cleaning them for free.

The Dorset entrepreneur only took over running the family business earler this year and plans to open 2 more depots across Dorset in the coming months adding 4 more members of staff to her workforce she has already began cleaning the local Villlage Community Centre for free.

I have started to upload before & after photos on the companies’ facebook page and have recieved lots of positive feedback.

As a local Company Jurassic Window & Gutter Cleaning sponsors local events and charities. This year they are sponsoring Wareham Wednesdays, Swanage Fish Festival as well as Wool Carnival and Wareham Carnival.

Verity hopes her story will encorage others to make the effort and help clean up the local area.
