Electric Scooter Rider Sustains Life-Threatening Injuries in Dorset

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following a serious injury collision in Bournemouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 1.55am on Monday, 5 January 2026, of a collision involving an electric scooter on Old Christchurch Road, opposite the Popworld nightclub.

The rider of the scooter, a man aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are believed to be life-threatening. His family has been informed.

His pillion passenger, a man aged in his 30s, sustained minor injuries.

Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said: “We are carrying out a full investigation to establish the circumstances of this collision and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please contact us.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the manner of riding of the electric scooter in the vicinity around the relevant timeframe or motorists with relevant dashcam footage.”
