Elon Musk’s name has appeared in documents relating to Jeffrey Epstein, with a reference suggesting the world’s richest man was a potential visitor to the convicted paedophile’s private island.
The documents, released by Democrats on the US House Oversight Committee, also name the Duke of York as a passenger on the sex offender’s private jet.
The records indicate Musk was noted as a potential visitor to Epstein’s island, Little St James, on 6 December 2014. This was six years after Epstein had been convicted and listed as a sex offender.
His name appears on what seems to be Epstein’s daily schedule, with an entry that reads: “Reminder: Elon Musk to island Dec.6 (is this still happening?)”
In June, Musk had claimed without evidence that Donald Trump was named in Epstein’s files and alleged his administration was concealing this. He made the claims on his social media platform, X, but later appeared to delete the posts.
Prince Andrew Named as Passenger on Epstein Jet
The newly released documents also list Prince Andrew as a passenger on a flight aboard Epstein’s jet from Teterboro, New Jersey, to Palm Beach, Florida, on 12 May 2000.
He is named alongside Epstein, his then-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell—now a convicted sex trafficker—and two individuals whose names have been redacted.
Details of the Duke travelling on Epstein’s aircraft have previously been heard during Maxwell’s trial. One of her accusers, who was 14 at the time, testified that she had been on a flight with Prince Andrew. The Duke has consistently and strenuously denies any wrongdoing.
Other High-Profile Names
Alongside Musk and the Duke of York, the records indicate Epstein was in contact with other prominent figures, including Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, PayPal founder Peter Thiel, and Steve Bannon, who served as Donald Trump’s chief strategist.
The names of Epstein’s victims in these records are redacted. The committee has stated it plans to release more documents once further redactions are complete.
Fallout for Duchess of York
This document release comes days after an email from Sarah, Duchess of York, to Epstein surfaced. In the message, the Duchess, who is Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, apologised for disowning him in the media and referred to the sex offender as a “supreme friend.”
A spokesperson for the Duchess stated the email was sent because Epstein had threatened to sue her for defamation. Nevertheless, the emergence of the email led to several charities dropping her as a patron.
In a separate incident earlier this month, Sir Keir Starmer sacked Peter Mandelson from his role as British ambassador to the US after it was discovered he had sent messages to Epstein referring to him as “my best pal” while Epstein was in jail awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his cell at a federal jail in Manhattan in August 2019 while awaiting trial. His death was ruled a suicide by the authorities.
