Due to the Government’s immigration policy, hostile environment and Covid-19 many of those who would come to the UK to help pick fruit… aren’t. The panic has therefore set in and the government are flailing around looking for home grown workers to replace the foreign nationals.
They have even set up a website called ‘Pick for Britain’.
Another example of the government replacing one set of cheap labour with another. Nothing unusual there.
However, a little digging later and voila. Mr George Eustice, the said Environment Secretary, comes from Cornwall and low and behold:
What do we find? Self interest and exploitation. Only a Tory would recommend this without a flinch of conscience.
