Works are set to take place on an area of tarmac esplanade at Chesil Cove this month.
The works will be conducted at the end of Brandy Row between the Environment Agency flood gate and Quiddles café.
This area of surfacing has suffered from some deterioration and damage potentially affecting its structural integrity. Patches of the existing tarmac have lifted resulting in a number of trip hazards.
This area of the esplanade and rear sea wall construction will be restored to its original condition.
Resurfacing works are due to start on 20 April 2015 and will be completed within six to seven days.
Access to businesses and properties will remain open as normal as will Brandy Row.
The esplanade will also remain open for the duration of the works, but sections may need to be closed for short periods of time for certain operations.
There will be material deliveries to and from the site, however quantities are minimal so disruption should be low for local residents.
Portwey Surfacing Ltd has been appointed as the main contractors for the works.
Weymouth & Portland Borough Council’s Engineering Projects Manager Sarah Cairns said: “These works are essential to make sure sea defences are maintained and public access along the esplanade is safe to use.
“We aim to keep disruption to a minimum for local residents and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
