We’re back!

September sees the exciting return of ‘High Contrast Cinema’ to The Allendale in Wimborne. A non-profit, volunteer-run cinema organisation formed by a group of friends with a shared love of cinema. Our collective mission being a desire to invite as many people as possible to accompany us on our journey of celebrating films that have shaped our collective imaginations for generations.

Following on from our debut in 2023 we are delighted to return with another selection of classic movies being shown in their rightful place – up on the silver screen.

A year in which we have been delighted to welcome an ever-growing number of loyal fans from around the local community. All of them dedicated in their appreciation of the artistry and magic of movies from the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Initially focusing on the mysterious alleyways and shadowy corners of Film Noir, audiences enjoyed screenings of Double Indemnity, The Maltese Falcon, Night of the Hunter, and Sunset Boulevard to name but a few.

We loved spending time with our audience before and after the screenings chatting, discussing, and sharing our experiences and love for these classic films.

2024 sees us expanding our repertoire to include some Film Noir-adjacent movies, starting with Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘Strangers on a Train’.
A firm favourite amongst the High Contrast Cinema Team and one we hope will kick off our 2024 season in style.

Details of our forthcoming presentations, and more information about us can be found at www.highcontrastcinema.org
