Every festival we have attended this summer has been blessed with beautiful weather. The trick is to invite us and we guarantee warm sunshine. Today was no different. Families sat and strolled in a gorgeous setting – Maumbury Rings in Dorchester. Up the top; down the bottom or half way up adults and children grouped. Plenty of stalls for people of all ages; bands playing; a bouncy castle; wall climbing; an open mic tent and the fantastic street comedians Goronwy Thom and Richard Garaghty.
The open mic tent was a revelation. Young talent paraded it for appreciative audiences who could celebrate the very talents that exist within us all. Superb! Sharing the tent was the local sexual advisory service. Free condoms. Free advice and free flair. Never say no!
Nearby was a local LGBT group tackling the insidious malignancy that is homophobia. The above says it all.
Having made an appearance at Weymouth Carnival in the week this wonderful seahorse re-appeared with the aid of local young people.
Here we have sisters having fun on the slopes.
Messrs Goronwy Thom (from Sidmouth) and Richard Garaghty (from London) provided the vaudevillesque emtertainment. Fresh from appearing in Montreal, Canada for three weeks and on their way to Durham for an appearance tomorrow they treated the attendees to feast of humour, circus tricks and family entertainment. Next stop is the West End with some warm ups in Lyme Regis in December. Watch this space.

And all the while the bands played on:
Excellent entertainment. Excellent fun. Right on our doorstep. Brilliant.
