Officers from Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious fail-to-stop collision in Poole that left a motorcyclist in hospital.
Police were called at 5.17pm on Tuesday 17 February 2026 to reports of a collision involving a car and a red Honda motorbike on the A3049 Canford Way. The incident occurred during the late afternoon, a time when the route is often busy with commuters and local traffic.
It is reported that the driver of the car failed to stop at the scene following the collision. The motorcyclist, a local man in his 30s, sustained a serious injury and was taken to hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been disclosed.
Officers are now carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened and to identify the driver involved. As part of their investigation, they are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have relevant footage, to come forward.
Police Sergeant Chris Brolan, of Poole police, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this collision and I am really keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened.
“Also, I would like to hear from any motorists who were travelling in the area and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.”
The A3049 is a key arterial route through Poole, linking residential areas with commercial and industrial zones. Officers believe there may have been other vehicles in the vicinity at the time who could assist with the investigation, particularly drivers with dashcams fitted to their vehicles.
Failing to stop at the scene of a collision is a criminal offence. Police are continuing to make enquiries in the area, including reviewing any available CCTV and speaking to potential witnesses.

Officers are urging members of the public not to speculate about the incident online, but instead to pass any information directly to investigators to assist with their enquiries.
