Far right hypocrisy over red poppies is merely tip of the iceberg

I have found it very weird that the more right wing a person is the more subservient they become to the red poppy and remembering those poor souls who had to abandon life for crooked politicians and corporations. Whatever war we analyse the right wing created it and then reinvent it almost as soon as it is over. One diet of dishonesty after another.

Try and explain it to them and they get all defensive and deny reality. They can then become vicious and resort to name calling. Their ignorance becomes their epitaph unlike the poor sods who did actually experience their comrades and family members get slaughtered and their own limbs blown off.

Take this exemplar. Dressed smartly and parading his red metal poppy with pride. However, it is not the only thing he is parading with pride. The swastika is also on parade.

Is it ignorance? Hate? Whatever it is it reflects nationalistic tendencies in which reality is denied.

Millions of words have been written about remembrance and its signifier.

These two articles outline the blind hypocrisy and the reality of it. Those who want peace do not seek it via the red poppy. They cannot as it represents the past, present and future spilling of blood on the orders of right wing establishment politicians and their corporate sponsors.

The way forward is to actively deny these institutions of power the ability to keep crushing us.

That also includes the estate agents… who have filled their windows with propaganda. Unthinking propaganda. How ironic it is that the leeches who feed off private property in which a great many wars have been fought are also the purveyors of remembrance for their victims.

The far right on parade is not just those with swastikas. It is everyone who perpetuates the myth for their own shabby ends.
