Officers from Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a serious collision in Bournemouth that has left a woman with life-threatening injuries.
Emergency services were called at 4.47pm on Thursday, 26 February 2026, to reports of an incident in Prince Of Wales Road. It was reported that a cyclist had collided with a lamppost in the road. The rider, a 51-year-old woman from Poole, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for urgent treatment. Her next of kin has been informed.
Specialist officers from the Roads Policing Team are now working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision. Enquiries are ongoing to determine exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the incident, including whether any other vehicles were involved or if there were contributing factors that may have led to the cyclist losing control.
Police Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have information that could assist their investigation. “We are carrying out enquiries as we seek to establish the full circumstances of this collision, and I would urge any witnesses to please contact us,” he said. “I am also keen to hear from anyone who was driving in the vicinity and may have captured relevant dashcam footage.”
The force is particularly interested in speaking to motorists who were travelling along Prince Of Wales Road or nearby streets around the time of the incident and who may have recorded footage, even if it appears insignificant. Small details, officers say, can often prove crucial in building a clear picture of events.
