The makers of an eye-opening film about Jeremy Corbyn say they will resist any attempts by the Labour Party to censor it.

Platform Films are the makers of “Oh Jeremy Corbyn — The Big Lie” a documentary which tells the story of the rise of the former Labour leader and investigates the conspiracy of forces which allegedly brought him down. It describes the extraordinary purge of Corbyn’s supporters and highlights the role played by Keir Starmer.

Now there have been reports that Labour councillors in Swansea have been instructed not to watch the film, which is due to be screened in the city on Friday 24 March.

Norman Thomas of Platform Films said: “If these reports are true, it is a disgusting attempt by the hierarchy of the Labour Party to in effect censor us. They can’t stop the film being screened so they’re trying to prohibit their members from seeing it. What are they afraid of? It can only be the truth.”

The film is currently being shown across the country, with, as well as Swansea, screenings scheduled for Walsall, London, Manchester, St Helens, Deal, Wigan, Bristol, Gloucester, Hereford, Plymouth, Newton Abbot, Derry, Glasgow, and many others currently planned.

Mr Thomas says the screenings are a “magnificent case of people power.”

He said: “Since we premiered the film in the Conway Hall in February we have been deluged with people wanting to see the film — and to set up screenings. It really has been a magnificent case if general release through people power. And I think the main driving force has been the hunger of people to know what happened to Corbyn after 2017 when he came so close to becoming prime minister.”

Mr Thomas suspects that there would have been even more screenings if not for behind-the-scenes attempts to suppress the film. “We’ve no proof as yet,” he said, “but many cinemas with a reputation for showing radical and left films, who have screened Platform’s titles before. have ducked showing this film. Someone is putting the boot in for it.”

Narrated by comedian Alexei Sayle, the film includes interviews with people in the thick of the drama surrounding Mr Corbyn’s leadership, including film-maker Ken Loach and Jeremy Corbyn’s former political adviser Andrew Murray.

Mr Thomas said: “The film tells an absolutely shocking story of treachery and deception.  People of all political stripes and none will be amazed by the tale it has to tell.

The aim of this film is to at last get the truth out there. Unfortunately there are people close to Keir Starmer who don’t want that to happen.”
